Range Operations Assistant

Reporting to: Head of Range Operations
Salary: Up to £30,000

Role Overview

We are seeking an organised and proactive Range Operations Assistant to support range service functions and provide administrative assistance to the Range Operations Coordinator and the Head of Range Operations.

The role includes supporting pre-launch planning activities, maintaining operational documentation and assisting with the day-to-day running of Range Operations. The successful candidate will also support launch activity, including working as an assistant within the Operations Room when required.

Key Responsibilities

The Range Operations Assistant will be responsible for:

  • Assisting with pre-launch tasks in line with the Range Launch Planner, including notifications, Marine Licence applications and associated documentation.
  • Supporting compliance with the Range Control Licence Reporting Plan and relevant operating procedures.
  • Assisting with the issuing of NOTAMs for meteorological balloon launches.
  • Providing support in the management and maintenance of the Range SharePoint site and operational documentation.
  • Assisting the Head of Range Operations with day-to-day range activities.
  • Supporting launch day operations where required, including working as an assistant within the Operations Room.
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues to support safe, compliant and effective range operations.

Person Specification

We are looking for someone who can demonstrate:

  • Good communication skills, with a professional manner and an understanding of confidentiality.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and support colleagues when required.
  • A professional approach, including a confident and courteous telephone manner.
  • Strong attention to detail, with the ability to produce accurate and well-presented work.
  • Ability to adapt to new processes, systems and software.

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Experience

The successful candidate should have:

  • Ability to work within company standard operating procedures at all times.
  • Confident IT skills, including the use of databases, internal systems and Microsoft Office packages including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills.
  • Experience with computer programming software is preferred but not essential.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and manage information effectively.

Additional Information

  • A full, clean driving licence is required.
  • Launch campaigns may involve shift patterns, as launches can take place at any time of day or night.
  • The role requires flexibility, reliability and willingness to support operational requirements.
