A milestone on the road to launch

Later this month, we are going to be at the 2022 Farnborough International Airshow, the world’s premier aerospace and defence event. This year’s Airshow, taking place from 18^th – 22^nd July, is centred around six key themes:  space, defence, sustainability, innovation, future flight and workforce – all of which are relevant to our mission at SaxaVord.

Farnborough International Airshow 2022 comes at a very important time for the space industry in the UK. The government has recently launched new measures to drive space sustainability and an ambitious Defence, Science & Technology agenda, both of which are likely to be front of mind during the event. 

SaxaVord is on the road to hosting the UK Space Agency’s Pathfinder Launch, delivered by Lockheed Martin and ABL Systems. Our launch site in Shetland is of strategic importance to the UK’s space economy as it offers the most direct route to orbit from Europe. 

We look forward to meeting industry peers at Farnborough International Airshow 2022 to discuss business and educational opportunities, our launch facilities and our extensive groundstation network. We’re excited to also shed light on how we are working with local communities and businesses, prioritising safety, and proactively preserving the local environment. 

Our team at the Farnborough International Airshow will include CEO Frank Strang, Deputy CEO and Operations Director Scott Hammond, Chief Operating Officer Debbie Strang and Director of Business Development Robin Huber. Between them, they represent the different areas of our business and can speak about our various priorities, partnerships, and initiatives.
